NY Hero's Law

NY Essential Workers Coalition

The NY Essential Workers Coalition is made of over 85 unions, worker centers, immigrant rights organizations, legal service providers, health and safety organizations, and community-based organizations. Together, we saw that working people were denied the basic right to a safe and healthy workplace, and together we are building a statewide movement to protect our communities. For more than a year, LWC has fought to provide the tools that workers need to be safe at the workplace during the pandemic.

  • SWEAT Coalition

    Securing Wages Earned Against Theft

The SWEAT Coalition (Securing Wages Earned Against Theft) has been advocating and pressuring lawmakers since 2015 to protect workers suffering from wage theft. The SWEAT Coalition is a state-wide group of 111 grassroots organizations, workers centers, legal service providers, and advocates fighting to ensure that New York’s workers can recover the wages employers owe them.

  • Fund Workers

    Fund For Excluded Workers

During the COVID-19 pandemic, our work shifted to providing immediate relief for our low-income worker-members while still carrying out our workplace justice campaigns and organizing our members. Our members did not have the luxury of working from home; many were left out of federal stimulus reliefs. It was essential for us to participate, mobilize, and raise awareness both to our community members and the public of the importance of the work in coalition on the New York Excluded Workers Fund. LWC members and leadership participated in the majority of the events.
